On Sunday, March 24, 2024 Lakeside AFJROTC will participate in the annual Bataan Death March. The memorial march is conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health, and, in many cases, their very lives. This year, we will complete the 14-mile march at Stone Mountain Memorial Park Stone Mountain, GA. The cadets will be presented an ribbon and community service hours for completing this event.
We will meet up at Stone Mountain SDA Church 1350 Silver Hill Rd. Stone Mountain, GA 30087 at 7:30. The march will start from this location at 8:00 a.m., so please ensure your cadet arrives on time. We should return by 2:00 p.m. We will have each cadet update the person responsible for picking them up when we begin our return the starting point. It is very important that someone is there to pick them up upon our return to the church.
Cadets will wear AFJROTC PT gear. Because of the distance of the hike (14 miles), proper footwear is essential. We will provide physical workouts that the cadets will do during our PT and on their time in preparation for this event. Cadets must participate in these workouts. Those who chose not to participate or are unable to complete them may be excluded from this event due to safety concerns. Following the trip, each student will share with the class their experience, discussing the highlights of the trip, what they learned, and how it’s applicable to them.
Each cadet will be required to turn in a permission slip signed by their parents/guardians. The completed permission slip must be turned in by March 21, 2024.

El domingo 24 de marzo de 2024, Lakeside AFJROTC participará en la Marcha de la Muerte anual de Bataan. La marcha conmemorativa se lleva a cabo en honor a los heroicos militares que defendieron las Islas Filipinas durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, sacrificando su libertad, su salud y, en muchos casos, sus propias vidas. Este año, completaremos la marcha de 14 millas en Stone Mountain Memorial Park Stone Mountain, GA. Los cadetes recibirán una cinta y horas de servicio comunitario por completar este evento.
Nos reuniremos en Stone Mountain SDA Church 1350 Silver Hill Rd. Stone Mountain, GA 30087 a las 7:30. La marcha comenzará desde este lugar a las 8:00 a. m., así que asegúrese de que su cadete llegue a tiempo.
